We are pleased to offer the return of this popular workshop!  Newest board member, Ellen Callen, will host—bringing examples of beautiful and functional tote bags made from re-purposed plastic bags

Rain Barrel Workshop

Construct and take home your own rain barrel.  Save on water bills, decrease toxic run off and divert a natural resource—rain water—for lawn and gardening needs.  Facilitated by Carl Lewis

The Importance of Bees (Part 1)

Local beekeeper/teacher Rick Drake and his bees will be joining the Gardens this year, offering classes for the entire family.  This first session will include a close-up of a cross-section of the hive as well as a discussion of the many benefits of the newest, busiest members of The Gardens at Unity Village

Learn how to create your own pickles using just a few ingredients and less than half an hour of your time.  Only limited by your imagination—pickling isn’t just for cucumbers anymore!

Local health activist Jane Van Benthusen has agreed to facilitate one of her popular raw food classes.  Jane will share her own experiences and discuss how everyone can benefit from adding more raw food to their diets.

Make Your Own Recipe/Scrap Book

The Gardens is proud to provide delicious, simple recipes to match available local produce each week.  Create a place to keep all those recipe cards safe and clean.  Join members Lou Elder and Ellen Callen for this fun workshop (and pick up any recipes you might have missed!)

Herbs: Culinary and Medicinal

Many Gardens members have an extensive background in herbs and their many uses.  We plan to add a section in our garden specifically for these natural wonders.  Member Karen Schilling will be facilitating this class—including recipes, of course!

Saturday, Sept 17 - XXX Sorry! Class Cancelled!

Canning Tomatoes - Sorry! This class was cancelled!

Member Linda Chubbuck shares the basics of home canning tomatoes in a pressure canner, and covers what’s safe in water bath canning as well.  Linda’s been canning tomatoes for years and it’s a favorite food when snow is on the ground.

The Apple Butter Festival

Come join the fun!  Apple peeling parties, stirring the kettle, canning (and sampling) some of the best apple butter you’ll ever taste.  This year we’ve expanded, adding more copper kettles so there will be more goodness to go around!  Join the apple peeling party at 5pm Friday evening (the 24th) and the fun continues Saturday morning (the 25th) into the afternoon.

 

Free to the public (unless you want to take home a jar or twoJ!

No enrollment necessary, just come when you can and stay as long as you want!
