layered sheet-composting garden (often referred to as a "lasagna garden") in your own
backyard.
- SATURDAY, AUGUST 28, 2010…Create a Tote Bag
Learn how to re-use all those un-used plastic retail sacks to create re-usable
bags of their own.
- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2010…Basics of Food Drying
Preserve what you've grown, eat healthy year round. Learn another way to eat
locally even in the winter months when not much is growing in your garden! Methods
of drying as well as preparing dried foods will be shared in this fun workshop.
- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2010…Apple Butter Made the Old Fashioned Way
You haven't enjoyed apple butter until you've made your own! Learn all the basics—preparation,
cooking and participate in an "assembly line" canning process to preserve the goodness over the winter
months. Leave with a jar of your own.
- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16…Foraging—Finding Food in Nature
How to find edible food in common places—your back yard for instance. Join an experienced
food forager on a tour of The Gardens at Unity Village—outside the fence—identifying and collecting
various "food stuffs" found in nature.
